Easy Homemade Lasagna Recipe |
: This classic lasagna recipe is a family favorite! With layers of hearty meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and gooey mozzarella, it's the perfect comforting dish for gatherings or weeknight dinners.
Ingredients:
For the Meat Sauce:
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 lb (450 g) Italian sausage
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
For the Cheese Mixture:
- 16 oz (450 g) ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
For Layering:
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, sausage, onion, and garlic over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, sugar, basil, parsley, salt, pepper, and oregano. Let simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and parsley for the cheese mixture.
- To assemble, spread 1 cup of the meat sauce in a 9x13 inch (23x33 cm) baking dish. Layer with 4 lasagna noodles, 1/3 of the ricotta mixture, 1 cup of mozzarella, and 1/4 cup Parmesan. Repeat layers twice, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
- Cover with foil (spray foil with cooking spray to prevent sticking). Bake for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake an additional 25 minutes. Let cool for 15 minutes before serving.
Tips for Serving and Garnishing:
Garnish with fresh basil or parsley for color, and serve with garlic bread and a side salad.
Reheating Instructions:
For oven reheating, cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes. For microwave reheating, cover a portion on a microwave-safe plate and heat on medium for 2-3 minutes.
